Ever since she can remember, Michelle S. Loyd has loved writing \u2014 in all its forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWriting has always come naturally to me and is one of my favorite ways to pass the time,\u201d she says. \u201cI find myself\n taking notes and writing things down in the weirdest situations in preparation for a new article, post, or social\n media update.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It makes perfect sense that Loyd is now a freelance writer, social media influencer, and digital gamechanger. As the\n owner and founder of msloydwrites<\/a> \u2014 a freelance writing, blogging, and marketing agency \u2014 she provides\n services for local and international brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finding a Path<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

But it wasn\u2019t always that way. Before launching her own business, she worked for some of America\u2019s biggest brands,\n including AAA, Verizon Wireless, and Apple Inc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhile it wasn\u2019t my destiny to stay with any of these companies, my time at each company taught me a lot about the\n business world and customer experience,\u201d Loyd says. \u201cI also made a few lifelong friends along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, her heart wasn\u2019t in her work, and she wanted to change that. \u201cSince I love writing so much and I kept\n hearing from strong business leaders that you should love what you do, it finally dawned on me that I wasn\u2019t doing\n what I loved,\u201d Loyd says. \u201cSo, I changed my career and began freelance writing in 2016. Apple was the last company\n that I officially worked for before opening msloydwrites.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her experience prepared her for launching her own business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most important things she learned were how to operate a business in a virtual\n environment<\/a> and use metrics to make business decisions. Loyd\u2019s degrees also helped; she holds an undergraduate\n degree in psychology from Southern Illinois University and a graduate degree in human resource management with a\n concentration in information systems management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The self-described \u201cdigital nomad\u201d is currently based in the Golden Isles of south Georgia, located just south of\n Savannah, and considered one of the state\u2019s best-kept secrets. \u201cI\u2019ve had the pleasure of learning more about the\n history of the area and discovering more about my roots and myself in the process,\u201d Loyd says. \u201cAs an African-American\n woman, I have a deep interest in the history of South Georgia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many cities there have strong ties and date back to the original roots of American slavery. She was amazed to learn\n that in this part of the country, there are still direct descendants of the original West African Slaves brought over\n during the Atlantic Slave Trade called \u201cGeeches\u201d or \u201cGullah.\u201d But her favorite part of the Golden Isles is the\n breathtaking ocean views from the barrier islands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through msloydwrites, Loyd provides freelance writing and marketing-related services online. Clients use her services\n for everything from ghostwriting to blogging, Twitter marketing<\/a>, and\n consulting. \u201cMy clients are small businesses, startups, and individual entrepreneurs who need help creating or\n enhancing their content marketing strategy,\u201d Loyd says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI create engaging content based on research and fact-checking that is targeted for each industry. I specialize in\n providing quality web content for blogs and social media sites that are focused on mental health awareness, psychology\n research and innovation, online therapy and telemedicine effectiveness, customer relations\/customer experience, and\n small business consulting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lately, the bulk of her work has been on writing mental health and psychology-related content for leading online\n therapy providers and developing new affiliate relationships. \u201cThe topic of psychology and mental health has always\n been important to me,\u201d Loyd says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to be able to contribute to the healing of others as it relates to mental health. Even when I was\n young, I could see that not enough emphasis was placed on education, research, and developing realistic treatment\n options. As an anxiety sufferer myself, I know that living with mental health challenges can be difficult \u2014 even\n debilitating in some cases. As a result, I do my best to make sure I\u2019m doing my part by sharing fact-checked education\n and resources for people suffering with chronic mental health symptoms. I try to create clear and factual content that\n helps people get connected with the resources and support they need to improve the quality of their mental health. I\n figure that helping on at least a small scale can make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
