For all the brilliant sessions and technical dives, the soul of WordCamp was the people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe talks change every year, but the people are more than colleagues and, in many cases, friends that you\u2019ll do almost anything you can for,\u201d said consultant Marc Gratch<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That rang true in every hallway conversation, lunch-table discussion, coffee-line introduction, and sponsor-room demo. Whether you were brand new (like me) or a longtime contributor, the openness was unmistakable. According to WordPress.org<\/a>, over 300 contributors<\/strong> gathered for Contributor Day, including 120 first-timers<\/strong>, collaborating across 19 teams. The Polyglots team translated 12,000+ strings<\/strong>, while teams like Core, Documentation, Training, and Community made measurable contributions to the WordPress project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showcase Day, the newest addition, exceeded expectations with 800+ attendees<\/strong>. Keynotes and sessions dove into AI, accessibility, ethics, and equitable tech\u2014featuring speakers like Amy Sample Ward and Joeleen Kennedy, whose insights stuck with many of us long after the sessions ended. WordCamp didn\u2019t just talk about impact, it showed it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Systems Thinking in a Tech-Heavy World<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Jonathan Wold<\/strong>, co-founder of Guildenberg, left a session by Tammie Lister with a new outlook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe humans operate in systems anyway, especially in a world with all this new technology, with AI,\u201d Wold said. \u201cHow can I make sure that I\u2019m confident in the foundations, the strength of the systems that I have in place?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was one of the most valuable takeaways of the entire event. WordPress isn\u2019t just about tools. As Wold noted, AI will amplify whatever we feed it. So it\u2019s up to us to make sure those systems are strong, ethical, and intentional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspiration From Unexpected Places<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

For Cat O\u2019Grady <\/strong>of Automattic, the surprise highlight came from a keynote on AI and medicine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey talked a lot about using video games to help neural development and treatment, and I thought that was so cool,\u201d O\u2019Grady said. \u201cI\u2019m going to go update my personal site right now and make it look so much cooler, just revive everything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These cross-discipline moments\u2014where WordPress meets health, gaming, or design\u2014don\u2019t just spark ideas. They remind us that open source thrives on diversity of thoughts and experiences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Energy of Enthusiasm<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

When asked to describe the 4-day event vibe in one word, Gratch didn\u2019t hesitate: \u201cEnthusiastic. Very enthusiastic.\u201dAnd he was right. From sponsor booths to casual chats, people were eager to share what they were building, offer advice, learn from each other, and spark new partnerships. It\u2019s rare to attend a professional event where generosity<\/em> is the default setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
