{"id":12996,"date":"2017-08-22T23:10:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-22T23:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.dream.press\/news\/?post_type=announcement&#038;p=12996"},"modified":"2025-09-01T10:28:42","modified_gmt":"2025-09-01T17:28:42","slug":"narrowing-the-scope","status":"publish","type":"announcement","link":"https:\/\/news.dream.press\/news\/announcements\/narrowing-the-scope\/","title":{"rendered":"Narrowing the Scope"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ZoeTillman\/status\/900101559035494400\">News broke today<\/a> that the Department of Justice filed a reply with the court to modify its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dreamhost.com\/news\/announcements\/we-fight-for-the-users\/\">original request for information<\/a>&nbsp;connected to DisruptJ20.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DOJ has now asked the court to exclude from their original records request:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Any unpublished media, including both text and photographs that may appear in blog posts that were drafted but never made public.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any HTTP access and error logs, meaning visitors\u2019 IP addresses are largely safe.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Victory?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We see this as a <strong>huge win<\/strong> for internet privacy, and we <em>absolutely<\/em> appreciate the DOJ\u2019s willingness to look at and reconsider both the scope and the depth of their original request for records.
