Automation enables simple and fast data portability for WordPress users worldwide
LOS ANGELES, California—April 7th, 2020—DreamHost®, a global leader in web hosting and Managed WordPress services, today unveiled a free tool designed to ease the burden of migrating data between WordPress providers.
All new Shared Website Hosting customers and new customers of DreamPress—DreamHost’s DreamHost’s Managed WordPress offering—will now have access to a plugin that automates the process of migrating their WordPress sites to DreamHost. This free plugin, powered by technology from BlogVault, will move WordPress website content, themes, plugins, and configurations between WordPress sites up to 80 percent faster than similar tools.
Traditionally, moving WordPress websites between hosting providers has been a largely manual process, daunting and often intimidating for users at any skill level. Website owners have often had to rely on software developers or advanced WordPress consultants to help migrate their data across the web, forcing small business owners to incur the additional costs of outsourcing their migration.
By bringing the power of automation to WordPress users, DreamHost has condensed a number of complicated technical processes into a simple web-based roadmap that can be traversed with just a few clicks. WordPress sites of all sizes across all hosting providers can now migrate to DreamHost through a series of simple, easy-to-follow web-based prompts.
“Data portability is an integral part of the continued success of the Open Web,” said Brett Dunst, DreamHost’s Vice President of Corporate Communications. “Widely-adopted, powerful open source tools like WordPress are supported by user-generated content that is, by its nature, never anchored or locked down to a single provider. Making tools available to WordPress users that help enable this portability is key to the future of user-generated content, and is something we’re proud to offer.”
Automated WordPress migrations launch today for all DreamHost customers currently using Shared Website Hosting and its managed WordPress hosting service, DreamPress. More information is at https://dreamhost.com/features/free-wordpress-migrations/.
